An adventure twelve years in the making. The highs and lows of the quest for a Montana Mountain Goat in some of the most spectacular and rugged country in the lower 48.

From Sitka Ambassador Steve Tittsworth and Greenback Tactical Productions. More at greenbacktacticalhunters.com.

Another 4:00 a.m. start another Western adventure to start the season this adventure however was different this one started 12 long years ago I first started applying for Montana mountain goats each year calculating drugs putting in religiously only to get that dreaded unsuccessful.

Well this year I was in for a surprise after 12 years of applying and 12 years of hoping and a little different draw results I finally had one of the most coveted tags in the West all this culminated in a 31 hour 2145 mile journey to what promises to be the pinnacle of my hunting career so far you know driving from one side of the.

Country the other you've got plenty of time to think and second-guess how to prepare myself enough physically was my gear up to the test you know been on lots of elk and deer hunts out west but this is different didn't want to leave anything to chance did I have everything that I would need which gun wanna carry and then there was the smoke you know.

Our region in Montana I had been inundated with forest fires of summon witty clear in time would we even be able to film I didn't have the answers to all these questions but this is my hunt the day I've been looking forward to all my life was finally here with one last check of the gear we were on our way into my NGO unit it was finally time to climb and.

Climb we did didn't take long to find some goats little did we know at the time this is only gonna be a small part of the challenge and I'm sure there's more of their vision uncle DISA getting that song you during pre scouting we were fortunate we had some late summer looks for us and.

Also talking with the biologist for this region get this a good idea where where to start we were actually in there last night and saw four or five no Billy's we've got pretty good idea where they are but this cruise you're really cold be Florida you you I know looks like he's flattened that we.

Gained a lot elevation and rich places in here the dough to let down although we're not talk we're really high spot setting the forward for the stock now it's a lot of the thing you know it's going to take a day to get to so I'm just going to take out arbitrarily till we've got something in mine to take off after.

Were you it was time to start up we spotted one mature goat in the band from last night we planned her out that looked achievable and headed up gaining only a couple hundred dollars an hour was taxing we had expected this but hadn't factored in just how much time it would take to reach our targets lots of.

Breaks were in order you know having dreamed to hunting these things for years seeing them in a spotting scope was almost surreal especially when I had a tag in my pocket to short on time two nights it wouldn't make any difference no they're a day away moved a few hours lives these first couple days were filled with.

Goat sightings but even with tons of miles on her boots already we realized pretty quick that we were going to have to go even higher the area we were hunting in was in the form of a canyon that sheer faces on both sides there wasn't a quote long way around we were going to have to find a way to go straight at them from below you.

You probably two of the shallows was to the top what was to get near the top let's go try you can't make it back down drive different bridge and day after day after day this is what we did make three and four hour climbs to the top only to find that the goats had disappeared you know Teddy Roosevelt.

Refers to them as the white ghosts I was starting to understand that it didn't have anything to do with her color that is awesome you know some people stop it hunters the quote fredbear saying 20 foot up a tree 20 foot closer to God those people have never stood right here this is unbelievable beautiful you.

Hey you find a beer to the top here this morning trying to get on the herd that we've been seeing we actually solved from the very top of the mountain on the other side yesterday just spotted a couple nights on there look like one of those he did Billy but there's no human in the world he could get to where they're at.

I always assumed that just getting this tag would be the hard part after all only 5% of non-residents that apply ever get one it never really crossed my mind that I might not get my goat but as we wound down to the last days this was slowly becoming a reality you you know after one Ironman climbed to the top and back we were out of gas.

Yet we turned up the hill every morning anyway but now our feet were bloody and her muscles made it hard to walk on flat ground let alone climbing these hills I wouldn't have had it any other way though I wanted to hurt it that's why I was doing this on my own don't worry it's not over yet I've got a deer hunt I can cancel next month to come back if.

Winter doesn't show up before we can get back we'll have one more crack at it goke gosh must have been smiling on us when I was laid to the high country this year but it was coming hard we were a few days in front of a winter storm so after a quick gun check we were straight off to the mountain no other place on earth that you can see something like that a huge flock of snow.

Geese word about 8,000 feet the peach you see on the other side are about 10,000 and they are literally almost level come across it someplace you after all we'd put ourselves through on the first trip look what we find less than a mile from the truck things we're looking up already tastes funny that they're already bursting and.

Then your we just going to take a walk you're gonna give it a check out really don't have time to find here about six we're actually moving around in the green cameras what they are we'll stick with them though just in case something great happens we'll come down you know on the spot that we might.

Be able to retrieve them we've got weather coming in tomorrow looks like winter is finally going to show up out here it's going to be 30s and snowing for the next four or five days that are in the forecast and I don't know what's beyond that so it's been holding out quite a while it looks like it's going to hit so the sooner we can get something done the better chance we're.

Going to have keep your fingers crossed you and this track was get right out here and drop back set up for keep my if they look like so getting really nervous we're gonna stop right there just one more you as we go good.

One limb over this goats vital saved his life it slowly moved over the spine he was gone a huge wave of disappointment washed over us until we realized we had another goat on the side of the face but they're here my trust you did there see you don't down right there that males.

You know he's got thinking on the trail on the way out about all the highs and the lows in this trip and the trip before old goat season really I mean it's one of the hardest things I've ever done but obviously one of the most rewarding to I mean I'm truly blessed to be able to get this I thank God for having the health and the opportunity also something I don't do enough of I.

Thank my wife and my family for putting up with my addiction to get out here and do this too they're just absolutely as supportive as anybody out there and I'm way more important than this goat is you know what do you say this has been a heck of a trip physically exhausting mentally taxing it's like I said alright or if you get a chance you got to try to do this this is.

Absolutely the hunt of a lifetime you you

Fellas, it looks like this video may have been produced with Sitka and Swarovski support given the equipment focus and list of credits at the film's end.  This means to me that yes, this gentlemen may have afforded his own gear, but more probably the gear was provided by Sitka and Swarovski in exchange for using the video for promotional purposes.  This leaves a question then about the hunter's relationship with the sponsors.  Nonetheless, it is an inspirational video and I'm pleased that the hunter filled his tag - congratulations to him.  Also, it looks to me like he harvested the meat. What is shown in the background rock are entrails.

Are you serious? Why do you think his pack was twice as full and he was bragging that big game bag full of meat? What do you think that he bought it at a grocery store to carry it up the mountain?
